Here's Our Start..../Emma's Book Posts

2.  A Book Commercial/Poster Ad - your choice, your book commercial needs to 'sell' your book to your peers via your voice or poster ad needs to sell your book visually and with strong statements.

  4. Rylee - That is fine...just as you did there. You don't need to follow as long as you can post and respond to a post with your first name. Thanks for letting me know though. I'm hoping some of you get your posts up maybe today being a "Snow" day. :)

  5. Does the ad have to be hand done, or can it be computerized???

  6. I would prefer hand done. A computer generated ad would need to be EXTRA impressive.

  7. I read a book called United We Stand. It is the story of a boy and his father who were in the south tower (Twin Towers in New York) when the plane crashed into it. Will and his father were on the 85th floor when the plane crashed into the 60th floor. They were unharmed, other than a few srapes and emotional injuries. On the way running down from the top of the tower they ran into a man they knew. He was Will's best friends' father. When Will and his father met up with James the next day he was in complete denial. I really enjoyed to read this exciting drama of an emotional journey that takes place between best friends. I recomend anyone, like me who is fasinated by the recovery of the United States after the attack.

  15. United We Satnd is historical fiction. It is definately a new favourite!

I just finished Safe as Houses. I really enjoyed that too. Safe as Houses is set in 1954 in Weston Ontario. It was about a 13 year old girl, Elizabeth, who babysat 2 kids: Suzie and David. A severe huricaine came from across the border that flooded Weston (which is outside Toronto). They had to escape the house before they were trapped inside of it and drowned, so they made a hole in vthe roof and climber to the top. They narrowly escape when the house broke away from the foundation.
This is one of the in-class reading novels for the groups. If anyone would like to trade books with me when they are finished, I would be happy to do so.

  22. Peeled by Joan Bauer is a science fiction novel about a young writer living in Bansville, New York. Hildy Biddle, a high school journalist, is trying to prove herself to be successful as a writer. Bansville, a small orchard town in New York, is filled with rumours of a ghost haunting nearby residents. The local newspaper, The Bee, fills its pages with stories of frightening incidents and odd events. Hildy and her fellow columnists believe it is their duty as reporters to spread the truth about these tales. Soon enough people living around this haunted house are selling their orchards for far less than their worth and are moving farther away from the site. Can Hildy and her friends PEEL away the rumours or will the ghosts stay haunting the neighbourhood? What will happen when the truth finally comes out? What would you do if you lived in the neighbourhood of the spooky house? What would you do if you where Hildy Biddle? Would you search for the truth that you believed was there or would you let the local news rule the lives of those in your area?

  23. A book i read was special ed. It probably wasnt at my reading level, but i found it to be interesting. Its about a boy at highschool, who isnt trying as hard as he could to get good grades. He ends up not having enough time to finish a math test, so he asks for more time. The teacher wont give him any more time for his test , and is kicking him out of the classroom , when he notices a boy his age, still working on his test. later on he finds out that the boy has learning disabilities, and Ed decideds to try to fake having a learning disability, so he can bring his grades up with the extra help he can get. He takes a bunch of tests, trying to fool the teachers, and his parents, but i wont give away the ending. -- leeshaa .
